Redirect to Microsoft Word Macro Virus
Using infected Microsoft Word files (using .docm extension) to spread viruses is a clever way hackers can infect computers using other peoples websites.
Once a vulnerability is found, this specific hack creates a bunch of links to Word docs, once opened these docs will try to infect the users local PC using macro execution inside the Word file which then fires off a script to try and execute an EXE file (which the script that runs the macro downloads to the PC automatically).
So, why not just shut these sites down who are hosting the Word files? Because they are actually other sites that have been compromised or allow file sharing.
As a security precaution, make sure your Microsoft Word app does not automatically execute Macros. Any newer version of Word would have this disabled by default.
