What is Brute Force?
So what does Brute Force mean?
Brute force is simply trying to gain access to a system by guessing the username and password.
Unfortunately, guessing can be completely automated and is generally accompanied by a list of commonly used usernames and passwords.
This is called a dictionary attack and an automated system (bots) with tens of thousands, even millions of common usernames and passwords attempt to log in to multiple types of systems using this database.
That’s one reason we highly recommend changing the login username to your WordPress and any admin area you use that you are allowed to change it (don’t use your email) because this way the brute force needs to get the combination of username and password correct.
This will highly increase your security in itself, but needs to be accompanied by a strong password.
